Local Area

Home to Spain’s fourth busiest airport, the newly expanded Málaga International Airport receiving over 12 million passengers in 2010, the Costa del Sol is prime tourist territory. Taking in kilometre after kilometre of sandy beach, this coastline has glamorous marinas, postcard-perfect whitewashed mountain villages, designer boutiques, trendy beach clubs, tapas bars, polo fields, waterparks, zoos, safari parks and more golf courses than you can shake a club at. Throw in the near-constant presence of warm sunshine and the Costa del Sol will consistently reaffirm its status as Spain’s favourite for Spanish and international holidaymakers alike.

Ideally placed, less than half an hours’ drive from Málaga Airport, Grangefield Oasis Club is a strategic spot to embark on day-tripping. Head ten minutes south to the beautiful sandy beaches of Riviera del Sol and take advantage of the sunloungers, the chiringuito beach bars and perhaps try a pedalo to explore the coastal waters. Within a comfortable radius of the resort is an assortment of theme parks, water parks and bioparcs whilst everywhere from glitzy Puerto Banús to fiercely British Gibraltar, flamenco-filled Seville to the Caribbean-esque kite surfing heaven of Tarifa are all easily reachable for a day trip.

Translated as the ‘Sunshine Coast’ there are no surprises when it comes to what to expect from the weather on the Costa del Sol. With one of the most reliable and healthiest climates not only in Europe but the world, this part of southern Spain packs in more than 300 days of sunshine each year with daytime temperatures even hitting the mild teens in the winter. Summers can feel pretty warm with the thermometer hitting the 30s but regular breezes and the very occasional summer storm help to take the edge off the heat.
