Beautifully decorated to evoke a sense of Spanish charm and tradition, the self-catering apartments at Vera Beach Club have everything needed for a carefree holiday. Choosing between one bedroom apartments or two bedroom examples arranged over two floors, each has a fully fitted kitchen as well as every comfort from fresh towels and linen to a television, telephone and hairdryer in the spotlessly clean bathroom. 		 
An unusual Spanish Costa where you can travel from dusty desert to refreshing Mediterranean Sea in the blink of an eye, Almeria has some interesting activities to take part in. Horse riding, all manner of watersports from surfing to paragliding, go-karting and of course shopping can also all be practised from the local area surrounding Vera Beach Club. A visit to the Tabernas Desert is essential, the set for many a Western movie and now home to a Mini Hollywood Museum. Golf is also making its mark and a pair of 18-hole courses can be found within 15 minutes of Vera Beach Club – Valle del Este which opened in 2002 and Europe’s only desert course, the Indiana Course at Desert Springs, which was inaugurated in 2000. 		 
The Costa Almeria is as equally blessed with warm sunshine and endless beaches as the Costa del Sol but is much less crowded. A curious mix of desert, rich farmland, mountains and sand dunes, the region begs to be explored. Vera itself is a stunning prosperous renaissance town boasting some lovely beaches. Garrucha, just a few kilometres to the south, adopts the slogan ‘sun and seafood’ and is famed for its native red prawns that end up on the plates of the seafront restaurants. Enchanting whitewashed mountain village, Mojacar is incredibly scenic, and for a proper day trip, why not take the car to Moorish Granada, home to the mighty Alhambra palace.
